Vietnam review
Now my time in Vietnam has come to en end. After all, the reason I stayed in Vietnam wasn't any of my will or because I like Vietnam instead it was only because of criminals that Vietnam are hosting.
This family is one of them who cheat, lie, threaten and scam people for money or other expensive items victims own. More about this family you find here: https://www.travelwithoutflying.com/2019/02/jessicas-case.html
I stayed in Vietnam for more than 6 months and this time maybe is not enough to cover all the topics about Vietnam but fortunately others already did the hard work for me. I conclude upon all the data and statistics I could get to make it fair that I don't use only my own experiences.
Feelings against facts
Many local people ask me: So what you think about Vietnam? Most of them regret are confused or just astonished that they asked me this question.First of all, I told them that I don't like the place called Vietnam because of many reasons and again I reflect what the statistics and data shows. I don't like Vietnam because the air is polluted way to much, trash and garbage everywhere on the streets in rivers on beaches literally everywhere. Tap water is contaminated with harmful elements and bacteria [1]. Corruption [2] and censorship of free speech [3] is closing this list of my view about Vietnam.
Then people kind of realize that everything I say make sense and try to shift their question:
But how about the people, what do you think about the Vietnamese people?
Well even some people I met are kind but still they are part of double moral because the same people who are polite still don't respect the rules in traffic and just throw garbage on the street. The lack or poor manners and morals make this place just not suitable for me.
In defense people argue that: But not all the people in Vietnam are like this!
I will bring one example from 2013 maybe it is an extreme case but still an example, this happened when hundreds of people happily rushed to loot the beer cans that fell out of a truck despite desperate cries of the poor driver [4]. This would never happen in places like Australia, Singapore or Sweden of course this is not a reflection of all the society in Vietnam and I still can firmly generalize that most of the people in Vietnam are poor educated and have no respect for each other though the hierarchy among them is consistent. And they can be angry on me but they can't be angry on the numbers. Looking on the statics again you will find out straight away that Vietnam is not one of those countries who lead the list in standards of living. If you compare the people in many places in Europe, North America, Japan or other places then is quite clear that these people really poses more values, maners and morals that helped them to establish a flourishing society and I generalize in this case too because most of them have respect and are polite.
Some local people have accused me of generalizing bad about Vietnam and they do that based on their feelings and not based on the facts and knowledge about sociology [5].
Because the situation in many places is driven by masses not by one or two persons we can generalize the behavior of the entire group. Particular individual is hard to predict though it's easier to analyze and monitor social interaction of all the humans as one unit, society. So in this way the predominant characteristic of that group will be stronger than the other and this is how often conclusion are made.
Probably the most memorable part of my stay was unbearable heat surprisingly good main roads and fresh fruits that I never tried before. Also doing volunteer work and helping poor people, orphaned children and homeless persons who are on the bottom of Vietnamese society that are avoided by disgust and ignorance from their own people.
What could be done
[4]For all those bad numbers in statistics we could blame the government who is not engaging in the problems on the lower levels of community. Corruption, arrogance and greed for power among governing officials leave behind indoor issues for people them self. It's very difficult to change the behavior of people on individual level rather it should come from the top level in form of reinforcement of laws and rules. So if major changes should take place in Vietnam would probably need the change of a one party authoritarian government [6] to a multi democratic one with vision and concrete solution to the problems Vietnam face.
